Our heritage walks and experiences in Wakefield explore local history and the Forgotten Women of Wakefield. The walks are a volunteer-led project uncovering women’s stories and bringing them to life.
Funds raised by these events have supported blue plaques to women in the Wakefield area. We are currently saving for the Florence Beaumont sculpture, due to be unveiled in 2028. This will be the centenary of women in the UK getting the same voting rights as men.

Come along to our most popular event. Hear exciting tales of murder, mystery and all manner of interesting tales of Wakefield and its people.
We bring our expertise, passion and love of a good costume to the streets of Wakefield. All for your delight and delectation.
Hear some incredible tales to amuse, delight and shock. Death rituals. Brutal murders. Animal escapes. These are just some of the fascinating stories from Wakefield’s incredible past that you will hear about. You can come on this immersive heritage tour by the ‘Round Our Way’ Team for the great price of £10.

December Ghosts and Gore Wednesday 2 December • 6:30 PM – 9 PM
The Forgotten Women of Wakefield present an evening of ghostly and gory story-telling at Rich and Fancy Café in the heart of Horbury.
Would you like to spend a spooky fun-filled evening in the company of the Forgotten of Wakefield story-telling team? Do you want a warming tea or coffee and a delicious cake from the ever popular Rich and Fancy Café? Then this is the event for you!
Expect tales of ghosts, witchcraft, murderous acts from history and literature, along with new and interesting works. Join this intimate event accompanied by candlelight, costumes, great company and the very best coffee and cakes.
Suitable for adults and children 14+
With special thanks to Rich and Fancy Café, who’ve waived the normal hire fee, every penny of your £10 ticket will go towards the Florence Beaumont Sculpture Fundraiser.
This event is offered at £10 and the number of tickets available is restricted to just 16. Doors open at 6.30pm to allow you to purchase a drink and / or cake before the event starts promptly at 7pm.
